The Hay Festival and the British Council entered into a global partnership at the Hay-on-Wye Festival in May 2010 with the purpose of supporting and promoting contemporary British talent in literature.
Hay currently holds 15 literary festivals around the world including the following countries: Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Hungary, Ireland, Spain, Denmark, Kenya, Maldives, India, Bangladesh, Lebanon and Wales, its place of origin.
The Hay Festival Arequipa invades the city during four days with conferences, debates, literary encounters and spaces for cultural exchange.
