The first edition of MEET presented two renowned experts from the UK: David Fleming and Katie Moffat.
David Fleming, OBE, MA, PhD, AMA
David Fleming is the Director of National Museums Liverpool.
Since 2001, Fleming has supervised pivotal projects within the city of Liverpool including The Future Project, in charge of the renovation of the Walker Art Gallery and World Museum, as well as the launch of the International Slavery Museum.
He has supervised the creation and opening of the new and emblematic Museum of Liverpool, where the number of visitors per year has quadrupled from 700,000 to over 3.2 million, since its founding in 2011.
Fleming has advised over 40 countries in museum management and leadership, museums about cities, museum ethics, heritage, social inclusion and human rights.
Fleming is also President of the Museum Association, Founding President of the Federation of International Human Rights Museums, Founding President of the Social Justice Alliance for Museums, and special advisor to the Museum for International Democracy, in Rosario, Argentina.
Katie Moffat is a consultant and expert in cultural digital strategy. She is currently Head of Digital at The Audience Agency.
The Audience Agency is a non-profit organisation which mission is to broaden people´s access to culture, thus creating more vitality in the sector. It contributes to the growth and diversity of people interacting in different cultural areas. The Audience Agency helps other cultural organisations to understand, not only who their audience is, but to discover who it could become.
Its most recent projects include the development of digital strategies, online audience research and multiple workshops in subjects such as social media interaction, Google Analytics, social analytics, web advertising and social media narrative.
It has a long list of influential clients in the UK cultural sector, including the British Museum, Barbican, The Science Museum, Southbank Centre, The National Theatre, The University of Cambridge Museums, among others.
Moffat collaborated in the book 'Manual of Digital Museum Planning' published by Rowman & Littlefield, a guide about digital planning, development and operations designed for professionals and students in the areas of museum and arts management.
